Meditation Instructions

Pith Meditation instructions from the Vidyadhara, Chögyam Trungpa

These instructions come via notes taken by Michael Hookham in the UK, some time during the 1960's:

First, let the mind follow the in and out rhythm of the breath until it becomes calm and tranquil;then rest the mind more and more on the breath until one's whole being seems to be identified with it.
Finally become aware or the breath leaving the body and going out into space, and gradually transfer the attention away from the breath and towards the sensation of spaciousness and expansion.
By letting this final sensation merge into complete openness, one moves into the sphere of formless meditation proper.

Pith Meditation Instructions by the Vajra Regent, Osël Tendzin

These instructions, from Vajra Regent , were found at the Shambhala Meditation Center of Chicago. They are said to be from the mahamudra talk at "The Chariot of Liberation" seminar; we don't know for certain, we just found them in our archives in Chicago ...

Fix your posture
Align it with heaven and earth
You are a lightening rod between them
Relax everything
Let your past dissolve into the earth
Let your future dissolve into space
Let the present moment dissolve into your breath
And then,
Forget everything you just did
Stare directly into space and relax your mind
Whatever happens don't be concerned
The absence of deliberate action is the real message
We make too big a deal of practice
Relax If something occurs, fine
If nothing occurs, fine
The moment is empty
