MAITRI FIVE WISDOMS Maitri Five Wisdoms is an interactive meditation practice created by Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, based on the traditional Buddhist principles of the five buddha families. Maitri, which means kindness to oneself and others, is a practice of self-acceptance, awareness, and openness to sense perceptions. It is available to practitioners at all levels, and has been used for many years at Naropa University in Colorado for in-depth training in Buddhist psychology and creative expression. In this weekend program, we will use meditation, physical postures, colors, and open conversation to investigate the both the enlightened and the confused qualities of these energies in a direct and personal way. The program is open to anyone who has attended any Shambhala eventat or received meditation instruction. If you have not been to the Shambhala Center and wish to attend, please contact the Center at 773-743-8147.
If you are not able to attend the entire program, or not sure it's for you, you are welcome to attend the opening talk, on Friday evening, at 7pm for a donation of $20.
The Shambhala Meditation Center of Chicago encourages program participants to pay what they can afford. People whose financial situation limits their ability to pay may contribute to the extent they are able. No one will be turned away for lack of payment.
Individuals who are not able to pay the full program fee should pre-register for programs online and indicate their request in the "notes" section provided.
It is not necessary to provide an explanation. Individuals may also request that the program coordinator contact them personally.
Pre-registrations may also be made at the Center by depositing the form and a note in the donation box.
