This is the second weekend retreat in the Heart of Warriorship series, and is Saturday, April 22 – Sunday, April 23. Having experienced a taste of basic goodness, we want to go forward. Meditation practice allows us to observe how we create a cocoon of habits to mask our fear.
Sadhana of Mahamudra Community Practice
This month’s Sadhana of Mahamudra practice is on Wednesday, April 26.
Level V: Open Sky with Marita McLaughlin
This is the fifth and final weekend retreat in the Heart of Warriorship series, and is Saturday, May 5 – Sunday, May 7. Communicating with the world gently and fearlessly, our awareness is sharpened and we find the open clear sky of mind a delightful source of wisdom and uplifted energy.
Alan Anderson will teach the 1-day intensive Mindfulness for Real on Saturday, April 15.
Governing Council Meeting
The next meeting of the Governing Council is Sunday, April 23, 1:00-3:00pm.
Highly-respected local Yoga instructor Mark Brouwer will be teaching yoga at the center every Wednesday evening from 6:30 – 7:30pm. Mark’s Yoga is a historically-influenced fusion of Iyengar traditions and Vinyasa alignment science. Safety is his first concern. He believes Yoga is a technology to keep the body and mind healthy enough to sit and meditate. All ages and levels welcome.
This is an ongoing Qigong series at the center, taught by master practitioner and Asian Body Therapist Jennifer O’Hara every Wednesday evening from 5:30 – 7:00pm. Based on ancient Qigong exercises and Japanese Shiatsu exercises, Meridian Touch Japanese Qigong is a restorative series of movements that anyone can do.
Ecstatic Dance is for the celebration of self expression, connection with supportive and cooperative community, and being just how and who you are. Our next event is Saturday, May 13th, 7:00 – 9:00pm.
For all WOC along the gender spectrum, Stillness is a space of courageous love and healing. This group practice is every second and fourth Monday, 7:00 – 9:00pm.
Queer Dharma sponsors an open house for all every Sunday evening from 6:00 – 8:00pm. Our personal experience with LGBTQI issues helps us have compassion for all those trying to live in an inclusive manner while being aware of individual diversity and identity.
The Heart of Recovery is a group meeting every Sunday morning from 10:30am – 12:30pm, focused on sharing support while bringing together contemplative practice and a commitment to sobriety. Newcomers will learn basic meditation techniques to enhance, not replace, their own recovery program in a familiar and comfortable environment. Experienced meditators will discover new ways to deepen their current practice while supporting the group.
Social Meditation is a monthly meditation program that emphasizes the context of meditation practice in order to deepen practice, increase motivation, and develop confidence in applying meditation in a variety of contexts. Our next event is TBD – please keep an eye out for it on our website/community calendar!
With our shared humanity as basis, we resume our on-going conversation by reflecting on who we are now and from where we each have come.
