Room: West Loop Shambhala Center, 37 N. Carpenter St.

Having taken the Refuge Vow and entered onto the path of the dharma, we can expand and deepen our commitment by taking the Bodhisattva Vow. With the Bodhisattva Vow, we dedicate ourselves and all that we do to the benefit of all sentient beings.

The Bodhisattva Vow is open to anyone who took the Refuge Vow at least six months ago and has a supportive recommendation from the individual's meditation instructor. We are also offering the class, Mahayana and the Bodhisattva Path (open to everyone), but especially recommended for those who are considering taking this vow in October. Individuals who cannot take the class should discuss alternate means of preparation with a meditation instructor.

A short (15-minute) interview with Acharya Richard John is required prior to taking the Bodhisattva vow. Interviews will be held between October 6th - October 13th.

A community-wide celebration will be held after the ceremonies but the Bodhisattva Vow ceremony itself is open only to those guests who have previously taken the vow.

An early student of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, Acharya Richard John was appointed an acharya by Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche.
