"The bodhisattva vow is the commitment to put others before oneself. It is a statement of willingness to give up one's own well-being, even one's own enlightenment, for the sake of others. And a bodhisattva is simply a person who lives in the spirit of that vow, perfecting the qualities known as the six paramitas - generosity, discipline, patience, exertion, meditation, and transcendental knowledge - in his/her effort to liberate beings." - Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche

This class will explore the bodhicitta practices for arousing compassion and waking up our hearts, the core disciplines of the Mahayana journey.

As a Community Practice Weekend, all are invited to join to practice together.  On Sunday, we will participate in the Community Pot Luck and Conversation as part of our practice of community.

While open to all, this class is specifically recommended for those contemplating taking the Bodhisattva vow with Acharya Richard John in October. Students of this class are not required to take the Bodhisattva vow.  If you wish to take the bodhisattva vow itself, please register here.

The Bodhisattva Vow Sourcebook, a complementary guide to this class, is available at the West Loop center for $24, or you may wish to borrow one from a friend.
