Room: West Loop Shambhala Center, 37 N. Carpenter St.

As we engage the path of meditation, it is important to explore our ego-psychology, acknowledging it without condemnation or shame, simply seeing it as it is. In fact, understanding ego development is the foundation of Buddhism. We can start at the beginning by looking at the origin of confused mind, how it develops and its relationship to meditation.

This daylong meditation retreat will launch at 9:00 am, with a teaching presentation by Derek Wolter, a second year Masters of Divinity student at the University of Chicago.  Derek specializes in Indo-Tibetan Buddhism, its transmission to the West, and its role in modern society. He has been practicing Buddhism formally since 2012, mainly in the Tibetan tradition. He is deeply inspired by the teachings of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, founder of our Shambhala Center, and those who continue his lineage into the present.
