Buddhist Studies

Shambhala Chicago offers introductory, intermediate and advanced instruction in both the Tibetan Buddhist and Shambhala traditions. While most classes include topics from both traditions, Buddhist classes emphasize the Buddha’s teachings as presented and understood by the Tibetan Buddhist masters. Buddhist classes explore topics such as the four noble truths, the five skandhas, egolessness, the bodhisattva path, and the meaning of emptiness. All Buddhist classes taught at Shambhala Chicago emphasize meditation and the applicability of these teachings to one’s personal experience.

Shambhala classes also draw on the Buddhist tradition and further offer teachings from the indigenous tradition of Tibet. This tradition of warriorship without aggression emphasizes how to lead a mindful, courageous and uplifted life in whatever circumstances we find ourselves.
