Green Team Field Trip to The Plant

January 26th

Date details +
Room: West Loop Shambhala Center, 37 N. Carpenter St.

The Plant is a collaborative community of food businesses in Chicago’s Back of the Yards neighborhood that works to cultivate local circular economies. In circular economies, conventional waste streams from one process are repurposed as inputs for another, creating a circular, closed-loop model of material reuse.

Every Saturday the Plant hosts open farm hours from 12pm-2pm where visitors can explore Plant Chicago’s demonstration aquaponic system – raising fish + growing plants in water. We'll also be able to chat with an aquaponics expert, learn more about circular economy principles, and visit some of the exciting research projects being launched in Plant Chicago's basement farm!

The Plant is located at 1400 W. 46th St in Chicago. Meet us at noon at The Plant, or come to Shambhala's West Loop location at 11:30 AM to carpool there.

This program is free, but please register and note in the comments section whether you'll be meeting us at The Plant or coming to the Center for carpooling!
