The Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program is an eight-week course designed to teach participants how to improve the quality of their lives as they work with various types of stress. This course includes: guided instruction in mindfulness meditation practice; gentle stretching and mindful yoga; inquiry exercises and group dialogues; home assignments; and guided audio files. In this course, you will learn key elements of mindfulness as it relates to stress reduction and enhancing well-being. You will learn how to practice and apply mindfulness techniques and integrate mindfulness into your daily life.

Participants are asked to make a commitment to MBSR meditation practice during the eight weeks of the course and to practice mindfulness in daily living. Please note that there are 8 two-and-a-half hour sessions, and one OPTIONAL all day (9-4) weekend session. Participants must commit to attending all sessions.

If you have questions about whether this program is right for you, you may contact the teacher, Ann Shillinglaw, by writing to the Center's email address at [email protected]

Ann Shillinglaw is a qualified MBSR teacher, who received her training from UCSD’s Mindfulness-Based Professional Training Institute.
